The Bulk File Copy and Move web part helps SharePoint 2019 (SE), 2016, and 2013 users to copy and move multiple files from SharePoint Libraries. When you use the “Bulk Copy Move” action, you can copy or move all necessary files from a document library to your chosen location.

If you are trying to install the web part on a SharePoint 2019 server, you may get the following error while adding it to your site: “Sorry, apps are turned off. If you know who runs the server, tell them to enable apps.”

The expected outage time is from two minutes to several hours, depending on your hardware and the number of SharePoint sites. However, we recommend all Virto users upgrade or install the web part on a weekend.

Before you begin, ensure you have access to the server. Your account must have the appropriate administrative privileges to install applications.

The Bulk File Copy and Move setup program provides links to the various installation components for the calendar.

To access the Virto File Copy and Move setup program, download Virto.SharePoint.FileCopyMove.X.X.zip and unzip it. Run the extracted Setup.exe file.

The setup wizard window will appear.

The Virto File Copy and Move wizard will perform a system check before the installation. All the system checks must be completed successfully to proceed with the installation. After the checks have been completed, click “Next.”

Check the box, “I accept the terms in the License Agreement,” and click “Next.”

Select the web application(s) where you want to install the product.

Click “Next.” Click “Close” to complete the installation.

If you already use Bulk File Copy and Move by Virto and need to upgrade it to the latest version, download the.zip file from http://www.virtosoftware.com. Unzip the file and run setup.exe as described in the Installing Bulk File Copy Move web part section.

In step 3, check the box “Upgrade” and click “Next.”

To uninstall the component, follow these steps:

1. Double-click the Setup.exe file extracted from the downloaded Virto.SharePoint.FileCopyMove.X.X.zip file.

2. The program will perform the system checks again. Once that has been completed, the program will prompt you to repair or remove the solution. Select “Remove” and click “Next.”

With CAML builder, you can define search parameters to filter files in a library. Set conditions to display only the required files from this library.

When you have installed and activated Bulk File Copy and Move by Virto, you can use it as either a web part on a SharePoint site page or an additional feature on the ribbon.

When you choose the “Bulk Copy Move” option, you will be able to copy or move all necessary files from the document library or list to the desired location. Click “Bulk Copy Move” to see all files of the chosen document library in tree view.

Select the files that need to be copied or moved on the left-hand side and select the destination folder on the right-hand side. Then click “Copy” or “Move.”

Check the “Overwrite” box if you do not need to keep duplicate files in the destination folder.

After copying or moving the files, the window will close and you will return to the document library.

If you choose the tree view, you can select files to copy or move from child folders.

Select the necessary files and click the copy or move button(s).

The Copy and Move web part allows users to work with SharePoint list items.

There are two modes for working with lists in the Copy and Move web part: list mode and library mode.

When list mode is activated, you can copy or move list items.

1. Switch to “list mode” (ensure the “Switch to library mode” button is active).

2. Select the items you want to copy or move and define the destination list on the right.

If you select tree view, the items’ structure will also be copied or moved to the new destination. Copying or moving items in view mode does not allow the structure to be copied or moved.

When library mode is activated, you can copy or move attachments to list items.

1. Switch to “library mode” (ensure the “Switch to list mode” button is active).

2. If you enlarge an item, you will see existing attachments. Choose the attachments you want to copy or move and define the destination folder. Attachments will be copied or moved to this location.

The tree on the right only shows libraries in library mode, and only items with attachments will be displayed in this mode. The folder structure can’t be saved in this mode.

Fast search allows you to find files in a library quickly. You can also use the autosuggestion feature.

If you have adjusted grouping or filtering in the selected view, these settings will be saved, so you can easily find the required items and check them for copying or moving as described in the previous section.

When you have installed and activated Bulk File Copy and Move, you can use it as either a web part on a SharePoint site page or as an additional feature on the ribbon.

To use it as a web part, go to “Edit page,” choose “Insert” on the ribbon, and click “Add web part.” Select “Virto Bulk File Copy and Move” from the list of Virto solutions and click “Add.”

On the web part page, click “Edit” and select “Edit Web Part.”

Define the site URL and list or library name that contains files to be copied or moved. Specify the folder name in this library if necessary. Select the view that will be used by default when opening the web part page.

Enable the option to check all files in a source tree by default if needed.

Now define the destination folder. Type the site URL and select all lists, choose a specific list (or library), or type in multiple list names.

You also can assign a redirect URL if you need the user to be redirected to another site after copying or moving or clicking the “Cancel” button.

Choose the available mode(s) for the web part. Click “OK” or “Apply” to save the settings.

The document library or list folders will be shown on the right-hand side of the web part. Any user who has access to the page can copy or move files.
