Virto Shared Calendar or Virto Calendar App?
The two apps answer different questions: where do the dates come from, and who has to see them?
| What differs | Virto Shared Calendar | Virto Calendar App |
|---|---|---|
| Where the entries come from | Your team types them into the calendar | Collected from Outlook and Exchange calendars, SharePoint lists, Planner and other sources you connect |
| People outside your organization | See the calendar through a view-only or edit link, with no Microsoft account | Are invited as guests of a SharePoint site |
| Where the data is stored | On Microsoft Azure, managed by VirtoSoftware | Stays in your Microsoft 365 tenant |
Choose Virto Shared Calendar when the team enters the dates itself and shares them with people outside the company: a team’s time off, an on-call schedule, project dates for a client.
Choose Virto Calendar App when the dates already live in Outlook, SharePoint or Planner and should appear by themselves, for example absences collected from everyone’s Outlook calendar, or vacation requests approved in a SharePoint list.
