Virto Polls lets you build a poll in Microsoft Teams and send it to the members of one or more teams. The Virto Polls bot delivers the poll to each person in a one-to-one chat and walks them through the questions; the results appear in the app. Virto Polls is made by VirtoSoftware, which has built apps for SharePoint and Microsoft 365 since 2011.

## Where it runs

- Microsoft Teams: a personal app where polls are built and results are read, and a bot that works in personal chats and in teams.
- A browser web app at polls.virtosoftware.com; publishing still needs the bot in Teams.
- There is no native mobile app. The interface is in English.

## Features

- Question types: **Choice** (single or multiple answers, with an optional Other box), **Rating** (1 to 5), **Text** (one or several lines) and **Yes/No**. Any question can be required.
- Polls have a title, a description and an ordered list of questions, and can be copied.
- Publish to one or more teams where the app is installed, with an optional end date, and optionally leave the poll owners out of the respondents.
- Each team member gets a **Start** card in a one-to-one chat with the bot, and the team channel gets a notice. The bot shows one question per card, with Back and Next.
- A poll completes when everyone has answered, or the day after its end date.
- Results: bar charts with counts and percentages per question, the average rating, and each person's answers with the time they took.

## What Virto Polls does not do

- **No group chats, meetings or channel tabs.** A poll goes to all members of whole teams, who answer in their one-to-one chat with the bot.
- **The bot does not create polls.** Polls are built in the app; the bot delivers them and collects the answers.
- **No anonymous answers.** Each answer is stored with the respondent's name and email, and the results show who answered what.
- **No quizzes or scoring, no export or printing of results, and no reminders** to people who have not answered.
- **No live push.** Results are calculated when the results panel opens.
- **No second publishing.** To send a poll to more teams, copy it.
- **No Microsoft Forms or SharePoint integration.**

## Requirements and admin consent

- Add the app from the Teams app store and install it in every team a poll is sent to.
- No administrator consent is needed: people sign in with their Microsoft account. The app's Microsoft Entra app has the client ID e5c6af10-142b-4d9b-a0a7-6bd5f6f16e67.
- The Teams app asks for two permissions: identity, and messaging team members, which lets the bot open one-to-one chats.

## Where your data stays

- **Unlike Virto Calendar App, Virto Polls stores your data.** Polls (title, description, questions, owners, the teams they went to) and answers (with the respondent's Microsoft Entra ID, name and email, and the time taken) are kept by VirtoSoftware in Azure Table Storage on Microsoft Azure.
- Deleting a poll deletes its answers too. Data processing terms for Virto Polls are agreed separately in writing.

## Licensing

- Licensed per Microsoft 365 tenant. There are no per-user licences and no trial.
- **Free plan:** up to 5 polls for the whole tenant, drafts and completed polls included. On the free plan every user can view and manage any poll.
- **Paid plan (Unlimited):** unlimited polls, private polls that only their owners see, and up to 10 owners per poll, for all users of the tenant.
