# Demo keys

A demo key extends the use of one Virto product on one farm after the trial period has ended. The key is valid until a set date and is bound to the farm and to the number of web front-end servers.

## Request a demo key

1. In **Central Administration**, open **Virtosoftware Web License Manager** → **Products** and click the product name.
2. On the product registration page, expand **Demo key**.
3. Click "**copy this text**" and send the text to [**sales@virtosoftware.com**](mailto:sales@virtosoftware.com). The text contains the product, its version, the farm ID, the number of web front-end servers and your contact details.

The **Demo key** area is not shown once the product is activated or unlocked.

## Apply a demo key

As the registration page says, a demo key can be applied after the trial period ends. Then open the same page, expand **Demo key**, paste the key you received and apply it.

While the key is valid, the product shows "You are using the Demo Version of {product}. It is valid until {date} ({N} left)." (see [License messages in Virto products](https://docs.virtosoftware.com/docs/virto-license-manager/license-messages-in-virto-products/index.md)).

If the farm has more web front-end servers than the key allows, the product shows "The demo key for {product} allows {N} web front-end server(s), but the farm now has {M}." Remove the added servers or request a new demo key.
