# Major Upgrade of the Virto Calendar web part

When a major upgrade of the Virto Calendar version is released, the version number is updated accordingly. If moving from version 2.1 to 2.2 is a minor upgrade, transitioning from 2.0 to 3.0 is considered a major upgrade. A major upgrade involves additional steps but ensures the software functions correctly.

To upgrade the Virto Calendar (e.g., from version 2.2 to 3.0), please follow the instructions below:

1. Send an email requesting a license to [**sales@virtosoftware.com**](mailto:sales@virtosoftware.com).
2. Run the License Manager and deactivate the license for the current version.
3. Uninstall the current version.
4. Download the new version from the [**website**](https://www.virtosoftware.com/sharepoint/sp-calendar-web-part/) and install it.
5. Run the License Manager and activate the new license.
