# Virto Calendar App capabilities and limits Source: [https://docs.virtosoftware.com/docs/calendar-overlay-pro/capabilities-and-limits/](https://docs.virtosoftware.com/docs/calendar-overlay-pro/capabilities-and-limits/) Product: Virto Calendar App Updated: 2026-10-30 Virto Calendar App shows events from Outlook, SharePoint lists, Planner and internet calendars together in one colour-coded calendar. It keeps no events of its own: each event stays in its source, and a change made in the calendar goes back to that source. Virto Calendar App for Microsoft 365 and for Microsoft Teams is the same app, made by VirtoSoftware, which has built apps for SharePoint and Microsoft 365 since 2011. ## Where it runs - SharePoint Online: the Virto Calendar web part, as a full-page app, and the compact Virto Mini Calendar web part. - Microsoft Teams: a personal app, and a tab in channels, group chats and meeting chats. Also Outlook and the Microsoft 365 app, on the web and the desktop. - A browser web app at calendar-app.virtosoftware.com. - Phones and tablets through the Teams mobile app only. There is no native mobile app. ## Data sources and views - SharePoint lists with start and end dates, from any site. - Your Outlook calendars, calendars shared with you, Microsoft 365 group calendars, and room or other mailboxes added by email address (busy blocks only where you cannot read the details). - Exchange public folder calendars and Microsoft Planner tasks. - Internet calendars by iCal link, read-only, and Google Calendar by iCal link or a direct Google account connection. - Views: Day, Week, Work week, Month, Year, Flat year, Year quarter, Task (hours), Task (days), Multisource and Live. - Drag-and-drop editing, recurring events, colour coding by source, field or category, two extra time zones, week numbers, print layouts, Teams meetings from Outlook events, and approval of SharePoint items. ## What Virto Calendar App does not do - **No reminders or alerts of its own.** On an Outlook event you can set Outlook's own reminder, which Outlook and Teams show. Email alerts and reminders for SharePoint list events come from a separate product, Virto Alerts & Reminder App. - **No calendar-wide export or subscription feed.** One event at a time downloads as an .ics file. - **No external users from other tenants, and no public or anonymous links.** For calendars shared outside the organization, see Virto Shared Calendar. - **No task dependencies.** The Task views are timelines without dependencies or a critical path. - **No SharePoint Server.** The on-premises product is Virto Calendar Web Part. - Public folder calendars need Exchange Web Services (EWS); when EWS is turned off in the tenant they cannot be shown. ## Requirements and admin consent - A SharePoint administrator adds the app to the app catalog; a Teams administrator makes it available in the Teams admin center. - The app signs in through the Microsoft Entra app **Virto Apps** (client ID 1d610c9c-d68b-494e-baad-ecff3123c065), shared with Virto Kanban Board App. All permissions are delegated. - The first consent covers User.ReadBasic.All, MailboxSettings.Read, Calendars.ReadWrite.Shared, EWS.AccessAsUser.All and Sites.Manage.All. A second consent under **Settings > Permission** adds Sites.FullControl.All, Group.ReadWrite.All and Place.Read.All, needed for group calendars, Planner tasks and room search. - Tenant-wide consent comes from a Global, Cloud Application or Application Administrator, not a SharePoint administrator. - The browser must allow third-party cookies for calendar-app.virtosoftware.com and sign-in pop-ups. ## Where your data stays - VirtoSoftware never stores your events. The app reads them from each source and saves changes back to the source. - VirtoSoftware stores the app's settings on Microsoft Azure: calendar and data-source definitions (site URLs, list names, field mappings, mailbox addresses, iCal links, colours), managers and licence settings, licensed users with their last visit, encrypted Google tokens and error logs. - A private deployment in your own Azure subscription is available. ## Licensing - Licensed per named user, including read-only users. One seat covers the same person in SharePoint, Teams and the browser. - The published plan is a yearly subscription for up to 100 users; for more users, VirtoSoftware quotes a price. - A 30-day free trial is available. **There is no free plan.** Old third-party listings that call the app free for up to 5 users, or quote $850 a year, are out of date, and the per-user prices of Virto Kanban Board App do not apply to Virto Calendar App. - Buy directly or as a Microsoft Marketplace subscription.
